The Abu Dhabi-based hospital has warned of offering bogus employment contracts to job seekers with salaries and allowances well above industry standards.

The Millennium and Phoenix Hospitals in the Mussafah Industrial Estate have been receiving complaints from job seekers who have received bogus job offers via email in the name of the hospitals.

A senior official at the hospital, which represents the same management, urged people not to fall prey to scammers and bogus recruitment agencies.

“These fraudsters or fake agents use the logo of the hospital and send job offers, appointment letters to job seekers and they are misled because they think it is from the human resources manager. The document will have an electronic copy almost similar to the official document Mail ID and website,” VR Dr Anil Kumar, Medical Director of Millennium Hospital, told Khaleej Times.

For example, although the official website is www.phoenixhospital.ae, the fake website on the appointment letter is www.phoenixhospitalae.com.

“Fake websites and phone numbers are just paper. They are not usable. Sometimes, some job offers will come with the official website, but with a fake email ID. Most of the time, this is enough to fool someone who will end up replying to that fake email ID Job seekers, this is again similar to our official email ID.”

Dr Anil noted that in today’s digital age, this type of employment fraud worries both employers and job seekers.

“Scammers lure job seekers with fictitious salaries. For Dh5,000 jobs, fake contracts will have Dh20,000 as monthly salary. Once they reply to emails, scammers may ask for money to process work visas. Desperate job seekers fell into this trap.”

The fake jobs offered are for both medical and non-medical positions, including management levels. Work perks include a three-bedroom duplex, free education even for children abroad, two months of paid vacation, business or first-class airfare, and more.

The medical group began receiving complaints after several job seekers visited the official website and discovered their appointment letters were fake and contained false information.

“We have no idea how many people have been scammed. We urge the public to be vigilant against such heinous activity. We do not have any third party recruitment. We hire directly through personal interviews conducted by medical directors or HR staff. We do not Offer letters are offered without a personal interview. Also, we do not charge any fees during recruitment. We have lodged a complaint with the police and issued an alert on our official website about such fake job offers,” Dr Anil added.

The hospital has issued an alert stating that if anyone receives an appointment letter requesting a transfer to process a work visa, they can contact phoenix@phoenixhospital.ae or millennium@millenniumhospital.ae, whichever is applicable.
