George Town [Guyana]April 22 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Foreign Minister Alva Baptiste from Saint Lucia and expressed his appreciation for his insights at the Indo-CARICOM ministerial meeting in Guyana on Friday.

Jaishankar also met with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary General Carla Natalie Barnett in Guyana on Friday and exchanged views on strengthening Inca-Community relations.

Jaishankar tweeted, “Thank you Secretary General Dr. Carla Natalie Barnett for the warm welcome at @CARICOMorg.”

“Congratulations to her for participating in #CARICOM50. Exchanged views on strengthening India-CARICOM ties in traditional and new areas of cooperation.”

Earlier, he also held talks with Suriname’s Foreign Minister Albert Ramuddin in Guyana, emphasizing the further strengthening of “ancient ties” between the two countries.

Jaishankar arrived in Guyana on Friday for a three-day visit to the country. After arriving in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, EAM was received by Hugh Todd, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guyana. (Arnie)
