Emirati astronaut Sultan al Neyadi, who celebrated Eid al-Fitr this year on the International Space Station, shared a video message on his social media accounts on Friday, wishing everyone well.

In a video he posted on Twitter, Al Neyadi is seen floating in zero gravity on the International Space Station with his companion “astro” Suhail. Suhail is the mascot of the nation’s space missions. When Dr. Al Neyadi and his crew took off from the Kennedy Space Center in early March, Suhail followed them.

In his special message from zero gravity, the astronaut was seen joking that Sohail and he both wore their best clothes for the Eid feast. He sends his best wishes to his family, his country and everyone in the world.

On March 2, Al Neyadi was part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-6 mission, which sent him to the International Space Station. On April 28, he will perform a spacewalk.

Al Neyadi was seen wearing a white kandura, the traditional dress worn by Emirati men. The one-minute video also features some celebratory Arabic music playing in the background.

In the caption, Al Neyadi wrote: “Usually Eid is with my family and kids. But today, I will be celebrating Eid with my trusty partner Suhail.”

“My warmest greetings to my family, friends and everyone on the planet on this blessed occasion. May this special occasion bring you peace, happiness and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!”

Behind the space mascot Suhail is Saeed Al Emadi, an Emirati artist. Al Emadi of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center sketched the character to pique everyone’s interest in space.

The video shows Al Nayedi and Suhail inside the cupola observatory module of the International Space Station.

In the video, Suhail can be seen wearing a gray kandura. Interestingly, Suhail is usually seen wearing a SpaceX spacesuit.

Al Neyadi also briefly described dome-shaped bay windows. Breathtaking views of Earth can be seen from an altitude of 400 kilometers.

Al Neyadi has been conducting scientific research throughout Ramadan. He is currently on a half-year mission aboard the orbiting space station.

This isn’t the first time Al Nayedi has shared aerial footage. The trailblazing Emirati astronaut has been posting gorgeous and stunning photos of Earth from orbit. Earlier this week, AlNeyadi released a stunning video taken from an orbiting laboratory showing the three Saudi Arabian cities of Mecca, Medina and Jeddah glowing at night.

“This is the city where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his beloved people immigrated,” AlNeyadi wrote.
