Abu Dhabi Maritime Authority announced on Tuesday that ferry transportation on the Dalma Island-Jebel Dana route will be free during the Dalma Horse Racing Festival, from April 28 to May 15.
Held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Representative of the Ruler of Al Dhafra, the Dalma Festival will see more than 3,000 sailors compete in historic 60-foot traditional sloops covering 80 nautical miles (125 km) over an 18-day period. There will also be a series of festivities for tourists, especially families.
Abu Dhabi Maritime – part of AD Ports Group – will allow passengers to travel on Dalma Island/Jebel Dhanna ferries in either direction for free during the festive period.
Additional evening services will also be scheduled during the festival so that residents and visitors can further enjoy the festivities.
Captain Saif Al Mheiri, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Maritime, said: “We are delighted to be the Silver Sponsor of the sixth edition of the Dalma Horse Racing Festival. We are always looking for ways to support the community and promote our heritage to younger generations. By allowing Our Dalma Island-Jabel Dhanna ferry is free, which we hope will ensure everyone can experience this extraordinary event for themselves.”
All visitors and residents can check times and book tickets for free through the recently launched online booking platform at www.admaritime.ae.
