“Both India and Australia are members of the Quad. I thank PM Albanese for inviting me to Australia for the Quad Leaders’ Summit in May. I have invited him to India for the G20 Summit in September,” PM Modi said.
The leaders of the Group of Four have met four times before, and the next meeting will be held in Australia. The group has grown in importance in the region due to its strong interest in sustainable and inclusive economic growth and growing people-to-people ties between members of the Quartet and non-Quad members.
Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly stressed that the Quad is a force for global good, aimed at developing the region while protecting the interests of all members of the Indo-Pacific region.
Quad is a strategic forum comprising India, Japan, the US and Australia. Its main goal is to develop a new strategy that leaves the key sea lanes in the Indo-Pacific region untouched. (Arnie)
