ABU DHABI, April 26 (PTI) Om Prakash Chouhan, who scored a stellar victory in his opening event on the European Challenge Tour last month, will make his debut at the Abu Dhabi Challenge at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Overseas starts Thursday.
Chouhan, a seasoned player on the Indian domestic circuit, won the Duncan Taylor Black Bull Challenge in Bengaluru when the challenge circuit returned to India after a decade.
The win gives Chouhan full access to the Challenge Tour until the end of 2024.
Chouhan’s goal also includes trying to get one of the 20 cards available to top Challenge Tour players at the end of the season. With a victory, Zhou Han ranked ninth on the Medal of Merit.
Chouhan will play a first-round match against Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follet-Smith, who won his first Challenge Tour event of the season in South Africa, and Italy’s Lorenzo Scalise, who has three Challenge Tour titles this season Get into the top 5.
The Challenge Tour returns to the UAE for the first time since 2018 as part of a long-term partnership between the European Tour Group and the UAE Golf Federation.
There are 19 former DP World Tour champions on the course in Abu Dhabi this week, including seven-time DP World Tour champion Alvaro Quiros and five-time champion David Howell. PTI Cole KHS KHS KHS
