UAE, Trilateral, Quartet issue joint statement on Sudan ceasefire extension – News

They welcomed the announcement of the extension and called for full implementation

The Trilateral (African Union, Intergovernmental Organization for Development and United Nations) and Quartet (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States) issued the following statement on Sudan:

“Members of the Trilateral and Quartet welcomed the announcement by the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces to extend the current ceasefire for another 72 hours and called for its full implementation.

“We also welcome their willingness to engage in dialogue to establish a more durable cessation of hostilities and ensure unimpeded humanitarian access. The initial phase of diplomacy to establish a process to achieve a permanent cessation of hostilities and humanitarian arrangements will help action to develop the de-escalation plan outlined in the 20 April African Union communiqué, endorsed by the League of Arab States, the European Union, the Troika and other bilateral partners.”
