Abu Dhabi’s ‘Bus on Demand’ service is now available in the emirate’s Khalifa city. Instead of driving or waiting for a bus, community members can book a minibus ride for just Dh2.
The Integrated Mobility Center of the UAE Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) just launched the service in Khalifa this week.
This is the latest route to be added as the authority expands the service, which was earlier launched in Al Shahama City and Yas and Saadiyat Islands.
The 13+2 seater minibus is ideal for families or groups of friends who wish to travel together within the Khalifa City community. It usually costs AED 2 per user and can be paid with a Hafilat smart card.
how it works
The service can be booked through the Abu Dhabi Link smart app. After registering on the app, passengers can specify their pickup location. Pickup will be from the nearest possible location.
The bus’s license plate then appears on the app, allowing riders to track routes and travel times. Frequent users can even save their home and work addresses for easy access.
With the service, which operates 7 days a week from 6am to 11pm, residents and tourists no longer need to use their own vehicles or wait for public buses to travel to malls, neighborhoods and offices in Khalifa City.
