Sharjah [United Arab Emirates]29th April (ANI/WAM): The 10th Charity Marathon, organized by Friends of Arthritis Patients (FAP), Health Promotion Department (HPD), Supreme Family Affairs Council, Sharjah, will start tomorrow at 16:00.
The event will be organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), Sharjah Police and Sharjah Sports Council under the theme ‘Physical Activity is Life’.
The marathon is expected to attract more than 8,000 runners from all walks of life, including school and university students, members of sports clubs, hospital patients and the disabled. As well as raising awareness about arthritis in the community, the competition will focus on providing material and moral support to patients and encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
This year’s marathon will be held along the Al Mamzar Corniche and will feature a variety of innovative health, sports and recreational activities organized by FAP in partnership with MoHAP and HPD.

In addition to the marathon itself, FAP will host a Science Awareness Day in conjunction with the event, involving rheumatologists, nutritionists, health experts and athletes. The marathon will also provide a series of innovative projects, including free medical examination and consultation, as well as various cultural and sports activities.
The Charity Marathon consists of four stages, each tailored to the age and physical ability of the participants. The first stage has a distance of 10 kilometers and is designed for those aged 19 and over. The second stage is 5 kilometers long and is open to participants aged 16 and over.
The third stage is a 2.5km race designed for ages 8 and up. Finally, the fourth stage is the “Fun Walk” with a total length of 1 km, regardless of age and gender, including the elderly and the sick. After the competition, the winners of each stage will be recognized and awarded various physical and monetary prizes. (ANI/WAM)
