Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed received congratulatory messages

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued a decree on Friday announcing the new appointments.

Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was named First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, while Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid · Al Maktoum was appointed as the second deputy ruler of Dubai.

The two deputy rulers attended a meeting of the UAE president and vice president on Saturday.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid shared photos of his meeting with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, saying it was held “for the sake of the country”:

After announcing the appointment, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed expressed his gratitude and vowed to continue working alongside his father and brother.

“I am grateful to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the invaluable trust placed in me. Mdan bin Mohammad,” he tweeted.

Many officials also took to Twitter to congratulate Sheikh Mohammed’s sons.

Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, sent a congratulatory message. “I congratulate Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed on his appointment as First Deputy Ruler and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed on his appointment as Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai,” he said.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, welcomed the new appointments and expressed his hope. “As young leaders, you carry our trust to realize our collective vision of Dubai’s success and will undoubtedly support your brother His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed every step of the way,” he said.

Kuwaiti leaders also praised the new officials. Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah of Kuwait, Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah all sent congratulatory messages.
