Lewiston – Ole FC finished the first half on a strong note and carried the momentum into the second half.
The Ansonia, Connecticut-based semi-professional soccer team defeated Lewiston’s Wahda FC 3-2 in a combined Premier Soccer game at Don Roux Field.
“I think we played well. We created a few chances and at the end we scored a very good goal, but after two or three minutes, we scored,” Ole coach João Garcia said. . “I think we dominated the game in the first half and in the second half we were able to take advantage early on but we didn’t concede the fourth goal and that kept them in the game.”
Ole FC (3-1-1) took advantage of the territory early in the first half, but failed to get past Wadah FC goalkeeper Ziman Garumu.

Wahda (1-3-1) came under some attacking pressure as the half went on, including a 35-yard free kick wide. It also had a 29-yard free-kick over the bar.
Both teams scored late in the first half, with Josemar Guimaraes De Silva giving Ole FC a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute. Wahda responded three minutes later when Ordi Nganzobo made a mistake in the penalty area and his shot hit Ole FC goalkeeper Jose Junior.
Luis Felipe scored from an error in the closing minutes of the first half to give Ole a 2-1 lead.
“I wasn’t worried when we were down 2-1,” Wahda FC coach Abdijabar Hersi said. “It’s more about letting us control the game and get our rhythm. That’s what I’m more focused on. Can we catch the rhythm? Can we find our own rhythm? Can we get our possession time? The third The goals kind of killed it.”
Ole FC carried the momentum into the second hurdle. Gustavo Bergmann sent the ball inside the 18-yard box and Luma extended their lead to 3-1.
After the game, Bergman said he wasn’t sure if he was credited with the goal or if it was credited to teammate Lillewan FHW, who may have touched the ball and it went over the goal line.
“I think it touches (Rilwan FHW), but if it doesn’t, that’s my goal,” Bergman said. “I’m happy to help. It’s the second assist in a row, so I’m happy.”

Ole FC had several chances to make the game impossible as the second half continued.
“We hit the post once, we hit the crossbar once,” Garcia said, “and we missed a corner.”
In the 65th minute, Wahda was awarded a free kick but Abdi Fattah Yusuf’s shot from 20 yards was blocked.
Thiago Onorio had a chance to extend the lead in the 82nd minute, but his shot hit the crossbar.
Maxwell McKersie scored high inside the 18-yard box to allow Wahda to score.
“I think it’s a sense of urgency, two goals down,” Hussey said of the final 15 minutes of the game. “I jumped at the chance to push these guys up (on the pitch) and move some guys around. I think that helped with the position changes. Another team, they started off well. I just hope we can finish like that. The game started like that, with the urgency of getting on the court, getting on the court.”
