England relaxes Covid restrictions on international travelers-News

[ad_1]

The British government on Friday eased pandemic restrictions on travel into England, overhauled its complicated “traffic light” watch list, and developed a simpler system for fully vaccinated immigrants.

It stated that the “amber” list covering travel from most parts of the world (including Europe) will be cancelled, reflecting the high level of vaccination against Covid-19 in other countries.

This reform was carried out after the public and the tourism industry were strongly disturbed by the Byzantine rules that enforce PCR laboratory testing, which made summer vacation costs prohibitively high for many families.

“Today’s changes mean a simpler and more direct system,” Secretary of Transportation Grant Sharps said in a statement.

“There are fewer tests and lower costs, allowing more people to travel around the world, meet relatives or conduct business, and at the same time provide a boost for the tourism industry.”

Only the “red” list will remain. If travelers arrive from a hotspot of the new crown epidemic, they will be required to be quarantined at a government-approved hotel.

But starting next Wednesday, eight countries will disappear from the red list-Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Egypt, Kenya, Maldives, Oman and Turkey.

Starting October 4th, vaccinated travelers coming to the UK from other destinations will no longer need to undergo pre-departure testing.

In addition, starting in late October, they will not have to perform expensive PCR tests on the second day of staying in England, just a rapid lateral flow test.

The overhaul currently only applies to England. However, the decentralized governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have followed the changes in travel rules previously announced by the British government.

Health Minister Sajid Javid said: “As global vaccination efforts continue to accelerate, more and more people are protected from this terrible disease, and our rules and regulations are correct to keep up. of.”

Tourism agencies welcomed the move, and the British Chamber of Commerce stated that it can provide travelers and businesses with “the confidence and clarity they need after so much uncertainty.”
