Boston’s debut single, “More Than a Feeling,” was a 1970s archetype and an enduring album-driven track, and when it was released around Christmas 1976, the five-piece band was an instant success in the United States.

Northern California band Long Time, formed in 2008, includes Rich Fields on vocals; John Poletti, lead guitar and vocals; Tim Boore, lead guitar and vocals; Mike Trucco, keyboards, vocals and guitar; David Ianni, drums, vocals; Jordan Costa, bass.
On opening night of the fair, May 11, another tribute band, One of These Nights, will pay homage to the Eagles, the quintessential Southern California rockabilly band (with the exception of The Birds, of course) formed in 1971 by Glenn Frey and Don Henley Composed. The music, elaborate soft rock, the stuff of radio presenters’ dreams, will begin at 6pm on the Leber Stage.
The band’s website, oneofthesenightsband.com, shows the band performed for more than two hours in a “note-by-note” homage to the Eagles and solo work by Henley, Frey and Joe Walsh.
So expect to hear all the familiar tunes that made the Eagles the most successful recording artist of the 1970s, from “Take It Easy” and “Hotel California” to “My Favorites” and “Making It Out.”
At the end of the 20th century, the Eagles released two albums in 1976, Eagles: Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) and Hotel California, with Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors.
On Friday night, May 12th, The Outlaw Mariachi, dubbed “LA’s premier rock band,” will perform at the Leber Stage from 7-10pm.
The band, also known as Los Charros of Rock de Califas, is led by singer GunSkull Ricky and trumpeter Mavero Druan, and according to some pre-promos, the band claims to incorporate some of the best mariachi rockers from around the country in a fusion of the best Rock ‘n’ roll and mariachi, with a great sense of humor, traditional mariachi clothing and instruments. The group includes former members of Metalachi, Santana, Mariachi Divas, Alejandro Fernandez and other Los Angeles rock and mariachi groups.
On the song list: “The Wall” by Pink Floyd, “Du Hast” by Rammstein, “Black Magic Woman” by Peter Green, “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks and “Freebird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, to name a few.
According to May Fair chief executive Patricia Conklin, there are bands that always draw crowds and fill the dance area, and those bands are invited back.
They include The Crossman Connection, Robby James & The Streets of Bakersfield, The Latin Touch and The Rhythm Method Trio.
