The Indian expatriate living in Abu Dhabi won AED15 million in the 251st draw.
Pradeep Kumar bought his winning lottery ticket number 048514 on April 13. However, show host Richard was unable to reach him on a local phone number. But Kumar also provided a backup Indian number, which luckily rang and the newest millionaire could not express his delight while at the airport in the southern Indian city of Chennai.
“Oh yes, I’m Pradeep Kumar,” he said when Richard broke the news of the unexpected jackpot.
“Are you sure? I can’t believe it. Wow. That’s great news. Thank you.”
Recognizing the show host’s famous voice, Kumar said: “I think it’s Mr. Richard. I’m at Chennai airport. I can’t shout. I’m on my way to Abu Dhabi.”
Kumar will share the winnings with two of his other friends.
Plus, for the first time this month, Big Ticket is giving away 100 prizes to 100 lucky winners. Draw Series 252 will be held on June 3 with a grand prize of AED 20 million. Tickets can be purchased online through the Big Ticket website www.bigticket.ae or at the in-store counters at Abu Dhabi International Airport and Al Ain Airport until 31 May.
