UAE evacuates 176 personnel, media professionals from Sudan as part of humanitarian effort

Abu Dhabi: An evacuation plane arrived in the United Arab Emirates this afternoon carrying 176 nationals from seven countries and some international media professionals to leave Sudan, where violence has erupted since the middle of last month.

The UAE continues to prioritize the evacuation of the most vulnerable, including the sick, children, the elderly and women.

The UAE will house the evacuees and provide them with all necessary support and assistance until they are safely transferred to their home countries.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) confirmed the success of the evacuation operation, which was carried out by the UAE as part of its humanitarian efforts and commitment to strengthen global cooperation and solidarity, continuing its humanitarian approach based on serving civilians Provide protection and facilitate aid and assistance to the nation when needed.

Stressing the UAE’s commitment to working with its partners and the international community to serve the interests of the Sudanese people, the ministry stressed the importance of stepping up efforts to secure a ceasefire and return to the political process and dialogue to make progress in the transitional phase in order to achieve the desired political outcome in Sudan Stable and safe.

The UAE continues to provide shelter and care services for evacuees evacuated to the city of Port Sudan. In addition, the UAE has dispatched two rescue planes to Sudan on Friday; the first carrying 30 tons of emergency medical supplies in cooperation with the World Health Organization, and the second carrying 30 tons of food and relief supplies.
