He further stated that a request had been sent to the chairman of the National Accountability Office to verify whether anything related to the allegations was committed by any “evil elements”. The decision to watch over CM in Punjab comes after allegations made by PML-N leaders.

Even Shahid Khaqan Abbasi did not single out the Punjab government. However, Punjab Interim Information Minister Amir Mir called Abbasi’s allegations “false and fabricated”. Meanwhile, the Punjab Food Department has denied any misappropriation, according to news reports.

In March, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced free flour for the “poorest of the poor” during the Ramzan festival, Dawn reported. The program was implemented first in Punjab and later in other parts of Pakistan. Sharif has ordered the authorities to develop an early strategy for supplying flour to poor families. (Arnie)
