thimpu [Bhutan]May 7 (ANI): Bhutan has launched a new online platform, Naykap Gokab, aimed at promoting local innovative ideas and solutions, Bhutan Live reports.
The platform connects innovators, policymakers and investors to create collaboration and investment opportunities. Developed by a group of young software engineers in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, DHI and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, the web application aims to foster Bhutan’s innovation ecosystem.
The site was developed by four young people. According to The Bhutan Live, twentysomethings Tandin Tshewang, Jigme Lodey, Kuenzang Choden and Thinley Dhendup are the brains behind Naykab Gokab.
So far, the platform has generated a lot of interest, with more than 80 signups. The web app was praised by speakers for its unique approach of connecting local innovators with investors, giving them the opportunity to showcase their work and seek funding for their projects.
Tandin Tshewang, founder of Naykap Gokab, said: “Before, even if people had innovative ideas, they didn’t know where to share them. With a web app like this, people just sign up and share their ideas. That’s how , anyone can see their ideas, and they have access to people who are willing to mentor them. This will also help them find potential investors.”
According to The Bhutan Live, the site is user-friendly and easy to navigate, accessible to both innovators and investors. However, the developers say they won’t stop there. They plan to develop a mobile app for the site in the future to improve accessibility.
Tandin Tshewang said: “Our current focus is on making the website as stable as possible so that people don’t have any problems using it. But as we go forward, we plan to make the website more accessible. .”
The Minister of Industry, Business and Employment said the platform is expected to create a collaboration and investment environment that is conducive to innovators and investors. This in turn is expected to drive innovation and economic growth in Bhutan, reports The Bhutan Live. (Arnie)
