A tourist stranded in the UAE due to financial problems has returned to his country after Sharjah police came to his aid.

While patrolling the emirate’s Airport Road, police spotted the tourist sitting on the grass under the bridge leading to Sharjah International Airport. According to police, he was in poor condition and looked tired. Patrol officers took him to the nearest police station.

It was later revealed that the Russian came to the UAE in April and cycled around the country on a bicycle. After the money ran out, he was stranded in the UAE. Due to his poor English, he was unable to express his question.

The police immediately booked a hotel room for him and arranged travel tickets for him. A team escorts tourists to Sharjah airport for their return flight home.

Police quoted the tourist as saying he couldn’t believe it happened to him. Thanking the officials for their assistance, he added that he was impressed by the humanitarian spirit of the UAE.

“I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what this country has given me. Its people are kind and humane. Sharjah and the wider UAE is free of racism despite the fact that there are so many people living there. It’s very rare. I love the UAE; it deserves it Visit its picturesque sites and witness how multiple cultures coexist,” he was quoted as saying by police.
