We have every reason to believe that the award-winning musical Hamilton is the next big musical masterpiece to come to Abu Dhabi.
Here’s the clue:
Hamilton fans were quick to recognize that the black and gold used in the trailer released by Platinum List looks an awful lot like the musical’s poster. The iconic image of Hamilton used for the logo appears to be the one used for this trailer’s closing slide. It all adds up…
Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out, as the post also confirms that everything will be revealed on Tuesday, May 9 at 11am. So, stay tuned.
If Hamilton the Musical is confirmed to be coming to Abu Dhabi, the location looks set to become a new entertainment venue for Yas Island as well, Etihad Arena. Yas Island and the Etihad Arena were both tagged in the post.
A Brief History of Hamilton
Hamilton is widely regarded as the most influential musical of the past decade is the story of Alexander Hamilton, the founding father of the United States. Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War, tells how America was born. While the musical is about America’s past, it has a decidedly modern feel, with hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap and R&B all found in the score.
The musical is based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton, with books, music and lyrics written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The musical debuted on Broadway in 2015 and has since been nominated for 16 Tony Awards, a record for a Broadway musical. Other awards include 7 Olivier Awards, the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
In addition to Broadway, Hamilton is currently performing in London’s West End. Tickets are also valid for tour dates in New Zealand in May 2023, in Manila in November 2023 and throughout the UK and Ireland from November 2023 to summer 2025.
