Abu Dhabi: The UAE Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) have signed a strategic agreement to promote the capital as a leading wellness tourism destination. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last week during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will cater to the international and domestic markets by providing comprehensive services covering wellness tourism, healthcare and medical tourism.
As stated in the MOU, DCT Abu Dhabi will lead the partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health following the completion of Abu Dhabi’s wellness tourism strategy. “With its state-of-the-art healthcare infrastructure and reputation for pioneering medical advancements, Abu Dhabi offers a compelling value proposition,” said Saleh Mohamed Saleh Al Geziry, Director, DCT Abu Dhabi Tourism.
He added: “Combined with its refined tourism offering and diverse experiences that visitors can explore at their own pace, this partnership marks the beginning of a new chapter in the continued development of Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry.”
“This partnership will create a dedicated medical tourism program while coordinating with all public and private partners across our healthcare ecosystem,” said Hind Al Zaabi, executive director of DoH Healthcare Facilities.
At ATM, DoH and partner hospitals showcased various healthcare services offered in various fields, including oncology, cardiology, neurology, and orthopedics, as well as facilities available to domestic and foreign medical tourists. DoH and DCT Abu Dhabi have also gleaned valuable insights on patient needs from international healthcare experts.
