Tom Needham, vice president of the Hall of Fame and longtime host of the Voice of Movies radio show, will also moderate the panel, with members of JVC Force, leader of the New Academy, DJ Johnny Juice Juice) will also join the discussion and Ralph McDaniels.

Although the Bronx usually gets the most credit for hip-hop’s origins, Long Island artists were very influential in its development, with many performers traveling to the city to perform, according to museum officials. Over the years, the Hall of Fame has honored the hip-hop community by introducing artists from Long Island, including LL Cool J, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Kurtis Blow, Whodini, Salt-N-Pepa, and EPMD .

Hall of Fame Chairman Ernie Canadeo said members are “honoured to honor the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with a live concert from some of the most influential artists in hip-hop from Long Island.”

“It’s a testament to Long Island’s prominent and continuing role in hip-hop’s cultural legacy,” he said.

The June 11 event will be held at the Stony Brook Village Main Street home at 2 p.m.
