Rockwell Partners with Tabreed to Drive Sustainability and Efficiency

[ad_1]

Rockwell Automation has extended its partnership with Tabreed to provide technical and lifecycle support services for its command and dispatch center for a large district cooling application in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The partnership will help Tabreed achieve its sustainability goals and make the company more competitive in the market.

Tabreed has been a pioneer in the area of district cooling in the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), collaborating on major projects critical to infrastructure development and setting a benchmark for the industry.

District cooling is highly efficient and cost-effective, saving costs in building operation and maintenance, reducing energy consumption while efficiently meeting cooling needs. With longer life cycles and long-term service contracts, district cooling offers customers economies of scale while providing a cleaner, greener solution.

factory operation

Tabreed is committed to achieving efficiency and sustainable growth through digital transformation and the integration of AI-based operations. To that end, the company has embarked on a project to deliver industry-leading solutions, starting with maximizing existing plant operations.

The Central Command Center contract consolidates five district cooling plants into one central control room on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Once the project is successfully completed, Tabreed intends to integrate more than 50 of its other factories in the UAE into this control room, establishing the infrastructure to enable its connected enterprise.

The project required enhancing control system assets using solutions from Rockwell Automation’s comprehensive technology and services offering, such as integrated industrial data center architecture, software and SCADA applications, as well as a range of network performance, security and hardening solutions . Plant-side enhancements were also part of the contract, including a new SIL-3 ESD system (with Sensia), migration/upgrade of existing control systems, field instrumentation, installation, testing and commissioning.

save costs

Sebastien Grau, Regional Vice President, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, Rockwell Automation, said: “The district cooling industry is critical to the Middle East and its improved their operations and reflects our shared focus on sustainability. This partnership builds on our 24-year Reduce carbon emissions to protect the environment.”

As part of its digital transformation and big data strategy, Tabreed is investing in converging its IT and OT infrastructure and is leveraging data from decades of operating district cooling plants and networks. Thanks to a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and vast amounts of readily available data, Tabreed can achieve what is considered a breakthrough in the district cooling sector by establishing a fully autonomous operation, making it more competitive in the market.

Atef Al Breiki, Tabreed’s Senior Vice President, Operations and Maintenance, explained: “We own and operate more than 86 factories in the GCC and Egypt. To maintain business continuity, maximize efficiency and ensure absolute reliability, we have Embarking on a plan to centralize the operations of our plants with the help of technology. This means that the district cooling plants will be operated (controlled and monitored) remotely from a central control room and assets will be managed from this central location using smart monitoring.”

With cooling demand expected to nearly triple in the GCC by 2030, district cooling is becoming the first choice. It provides reliable solutions, reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and contributes to the achievement of sustainable development goals. District cooling is also becoming an integral part of smart energy networks that are driving the development of sustainable smart cities in the region and globally. — trade arab news agency
