ABU DHABI – UAE, 11 May 2023: The Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Center (ADSCC) recently hosted an official delegation from Indiana University Health Center (IU Health), one of the largest and most comprehensive academic healthcare systems in the United States One, there were senior officials of two entities present. ADSCC CEO Dr Yendry Ventura and ADSCC Abu Dhabi Bone Marrow Transplant Program (AD-BMT©) Executive Director Dr Fatima Mohammed Al Kaabi received a delegation led by Dr Mohammad Al-Haddad Chief Destination Services and Director Gastroenterology and Dr. Rafat Abonour, PhD, professor of medicine, pathology and laboratory medicine and director of multiple myeloma, in hepatology, and a team of physicians and researchers from Indiana University Health.
The visit is part of a collaboration that was sealed in 2020 when a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the two entities.
Leveraging IU Health’s in-depth expertise and ADSCC’s infrastructure and capabilities as one of the first centers in the UAE to offer bone marrow transplants, the collaboration supports ADSCC’s strategic vision and aspirations to advance healthcare in the UAE and the wider region by offering unique services Healthcare Services supported by manufacturing capabilities, clinical trials and research.
Since the signing of the MOU, the two entities have been collaborating on a range of projects, including medical education, training, clinical research projects and multiple international publications. IU Health also provided comprehensive support and advice, as well as second opinion services, after the development and initiation of ADSCC’s bone marrow transplant program.

The visit was followed by a series of meetings between clinical team members, researchers and physicians, while a tour of ADSCC’s laboratories and its newest comprehensive inpatient facility in Khalifa, Abu Dhabi.
