Abu Dhabi Sports Commission and ADNOC announce three major announcements for the 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon

The organizer Abu Dhabi Sports Commission (ADSC) and the title sponsor Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced the route, prizes and official T-shirt design of the third ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, which will be held on 26 Held on Fridayday November.

There are a variety of race categories for runners to choose from, including individual 42.2KM marathon distance, 10KM, 5KM and 2.5KM two-person marathon relay, and wheelchair race category. As the title sponsor, the marathon strengthens ADNOC’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community as the company will continue to support the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and achieve UN Sustainable Development Goal #3.

The total prize money of the 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon is US$303,000 (Dh1.11 million), which will be shared among various categories, with the elite male and female marathon champions receiving US$50,000 (Dh183,500) each. A prize of $30,000 will also be awarded if they break the current track records of 2:04:40 and 2:21:01 for men and women respectively. Cash prizes of US$8,500 and US$11,000 will be awarded to the winners of the wheelchair and 10km category respectively.

HE Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Commission, Said: “Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, more than 4,000 participants participated in the third ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon. This shows the enthusiasm and interaction of the Abu Dhabi community for participating in the event and expresses Abu Dhabi’s Ratio, especially the degree of growth and increase in runners across the UAE.

“With the launch of the upcoming events, Abu Dhabi has hosted a large number of sports events and won praise for its organizational capabilities and infrastructure, once again proving its pioneering role in the sports industry.

“We are very pleased that the partnership with ADNOC has demonstrated its corporate image and strategy through sponsoring and supporting marathons and all global and community sports events.

“We also thank the sports brand Nike for appearing on the list of sponsors of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, as well as the support of the Ministry of Community Development, the Abu Dhabi Police Command, the Ministry of Municipal and Transportation, Tadweer and Al Ain Water.

“Last but not least, the authorities strive to maintain all preventive measures to ensure the safety of all participants.”

The 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will start in front of the iconic ADNOC headquarters, where you can directly see the founders’ memorial, and runners participating in 2.5KM, 5KM and 10KM races will start on 18th Street.

With the firing of the starting gun, the runners will set off along the coastal road and circle around Qasr Al Hosn, one of the oldest and most beautiful historical stone buildings in Abu Dhabi. Participants will then pass the Emirates Heritage Village, which is one of the highest flagpoles in the world, then pass Marina Mall and King Abdullah Street, then return to the Corniche, and make the last lap of Qasr Al Hosn. The marathon runners will cross the finish line in the activity village located in the south square of the ADNOC headquarters campus, while all other runners will finish the race on 18th Street opposite the ADNOC Welcome Center.

At the press conference, the design of the official T-shirt of the 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon was also unveiled. This T-shirt is specially designed by Nike for the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon and is free for all registered participants. It uses Nike Breathe fabric, cleverly matched with mesh to keep runners dry and cool, while enhancing breathability. It also uses Nike’s Dri-FIT technology to help runners stay dry and comfortable.

Participants can also personalize their official competition T-shirts during the registration process for only Dh60 plus VAT until 30day September.

Due to Covid-19 preventive measures, the 2021 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon places are strictly limited, and runners are urged to register as soon as possible.
