BABYMONSTER announced the final lineup!
At midnight on May 12th, Korean time, YG Entertainment and the founder of the agency Yang Hyun Suk held a live broadcast, announcing that five trainees were selected as members of BABYMONSTER, which is YG’s first girl group after 7 years after BLACKPINK.
Yang Hyun Suk announced the final members one by one, introduced each trainee, and explained why they were selected as the lineup. His final lineup in BABYMONSTER is Ahyeon, Ruka, Chiquita, Haram and Pharita.
Regarding why trainees Rora and Asa were excluded from the lineup, Yang Hyun Suk explained that he wanted Rora to debut with YG’s next girl group, and he wanted Asa to participate in the girl group project he planned in Japan.
Regarding why it took two weeks to make this decision, Yang Hyun Suk shared that so many people wanted all 7 trainees to debut, so he had to reconsider his decision to choose only 5 members. Talking about the importance of fans’ opinions, Yang Hyun Suk said, “‘YG Family’ is not just a gathering of YG artists, I believe that YG fans and all those who watch these shows seriously are the real YG Family.”
Yang Hyun Suk then took the opportunity to replace the posters of the 5 members of BABYMONSTER with 1 of the 7 trainees. Now referring to the group of seven as BABYMONS7ER, Yang Hyun Suk announced, “I’ll bring all seven.”
The founder explained that the five members he announced initially were chosen by YG, while Rora and Asa were chosen by fans. They will be unveiled as soon as possible, possibly no later than this fall, he added.
