The Indian state of Karnataka reports strong response from the Middle East market at the Arab Travel Market (ATM) 2023. Several tourists and trade partners expressed their interest in the state’s diverse tourism offerings.
Over 200 trade visitors and tourism professionals visited the Karnataka Tourism Pavilion and held B2B meetings during the four-day event.
The main purpose of Karnataka’s participation is to showcase the state’s cultural heritage and promote Karnataka as a preferred tourist destination in the Middle East market, said HT Ratnakar, Tourism and Hospitality Consultant, Karnataka Tourism Board.
Speaking to TTN at an impressive stand highlighting Karnataka’s cultural heritage, Ratnakar said, “The state is rich in tourist attractions ranging from hill stations and ruins to beaches. Karnataka has a variety of In addition, the state is home to 18 wildlife sanctuaries that have become especially popular in the wake of the pandemic as people look to spend a few days immersed in nature.
“In fact, Karnataka Tourism has 24 jungle properties for tourists to choose from. Overall, Karnataka is a truly diverse tourist destination,” he said.
Currently, Karnataka has the fifth highest tourist arrivals among Indian states. “We are sincerely trying to improve our ranking,” Ratnakar said.
Participation in the ATM is part of the state’s efforts to encourage more tourists in the region to visit and enjoy its offerings.
“We are participating in 10 international travel fairs including ATM Dubai, where Karnataka Tourism will have its own pavilion and we are convening our stakeholders such as hoteliers, tour operators and tour operators,” He said.
The country is also conducting roadshows in some countries. “In fact, last year we did 16 roadshows in different countries,” he said. “In addition to the international market, we pay attention to the domestic market every year by participating in events and holding roadshows.”
The state also hosts a biannual travel fair called the Karnataka Travel Market, which will be held later this year, with dates likely to be announced soon.
