Karachi [Pakistan]May 15 (ANI): The Sindh Provincial Food Authority has been accused of corruption by restaurateurs who say they are not performing their duties properly, Pakistani media outlet ARY News reported.
ARY News exposed corruption in the Sindh Food Authority when a reporter from a Pakistani media publication visited the office of the Sindh Food Authority and one of the men, Tahir Baloch, demanded (PKR) 70,000 to unblock the bakery.
The North Nazimabad bakery was apparently raided and seized by the Sindh Food Authority.
According to a secret recording by the investigative team, Tahir Baloch collected the money and promised to unseat the bakery after providing an affidavit, which in turn exposed the deep roots of corruption in the Sindh Food Authority.
The investigation team found that the bakery was closed without taking samples. The deputy director recused himself from questioning by Zimmedar Kaun’s investigative team, ARY News reported.
They explained to the deputy director that while the Sindh Food Authority was tasked with assuring food quality, the organization was actually more involved in corruption.
The people of Sindh suffer from excessive corruption and this is one of the main reasons for poverty in the region. (Arnie)
