The trial of a leading New Zealand entertainment figure facing rape, sexual assault and drug-related charges has been adjourned until tomorrow morning to resume.

He pleaded not guilty to 25 charges involving nine accusers because the interim restraining order could not identify the man on trial.

His trial in the Rotorua High Court is expected to last six weeks.

The charges relate to alleged crimes that took place across the North Island over the years. Some of the allegations involved the man allegedly administering drugs such as MDMA and methamphetamine to the women in order to rape and sexually assault them.

The trial was adjourned again on Monday and today, but is scheduled to resume tomorrow.

The reason for the adjournment cannot be reported.

Prosecutor Anna Pollett said in Monday’s opening statement that she would “explicitly address sexuality” in her opening statement and in the trial.

She said she did this not to embarrass or shock the jury, but to give them a clear picture of the circumstances.

She said the man’s role involved personal responsibility and integrity. But despite that, she said he thought it gave him the right to act in any way he wanted with those women.

“Whether they want it or not, if he does, that’s all that matters. He’s addicted to sex, he told some people.”

Pollett said the man used Class A and Class B drugs, such as MDMA and methamphetamine, which have a depressing effect on some people and affect things in his favor, sometimes in combination with alcohol.

She said he illegally entered the house of one of the complainants twice in one night.

After police began their investigation, the man became aware of various witnesses who had spoken to police.

Pollitt said he asked a business associate about family members who had made statements and encouraged them to change their minds about what police said.

Officials expect to call 63 witnesses.

Defense attorney Ron Mansfield (Ron Mansfield) will appear in court for the man.
