SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The Santa Maria Union High School District is honoring Central Coast agricultural workers with Farm Worker Day today.
The Community Health Center organized the event, bringing many healthcare providers, legal resources, government resources, and children’s resources from across the Santa Maria Valley.
The event offers attendees the opportunity to receive free healthcare screenings and information.
People can take advantage of COVID-19 vaccinations, oral health exams, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and even talk to providers to get answers to health-related questions.yes
In addition to health screenings, a free resource fair will allow families to gather information on education, nutrition and mental health.
People can also get guidance on legal help and labor rights.
Casa Pacifica will present a presentation on Coping and Parenting Skills for Children.
Color Club – Educators at Cal Poly will present “What to Expect When Choosing a Career in Education.”
There will also be plenty of activities for the kids throughout the day. Kids can enjoy games, coloring activities, face painting, free children’s books and other activities to keep them entertained throughout the day.
Everyone will enjoy music from DJ Jaime of Advanced Sound & Lighting.
There will also be freebies, raffle prizes and food handouts while supplies last.
The event will be held at the Santa Maria High School gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Event parking is free at the school car park near Thornburg Street.
