Wanda Sykes isn’t keen on having another Oscars show.
The comedian is co-hosting the 2022 Academy Awards alongside Amy Schumer and Regina Hall.Best actor winner Will Smith infamously slapped presenter Chris Rock at the awards ceremony; Sykes previously claimed to have witnessed the attack traumatic.

when asked type While promoting the cover story for her Netflix special “I’m an Entertainer,” Sykes replied, “No. I don’t think so.
The “Two Others” star added, “I mean, it’s fun to do it with Amy and Regina. But solo? No thanks.”
Sykes revealed that Smith later contacted her.
“I had the worst cold in my throat when he called. It wasn’t COVID, but I was really sick,” Sykes said. “I was like, ‘Hey, thanks for reaching out. I’ll get in touch when I feel better. But at that point, I was like, He’s calling. I know what the call is for. I very good.”
She continued, “I mean, I wish this guy the best. I really hope he’s back. I really like it.
In May 2022, Sykes said of Smith: “I hope he picks himself up. Until then, damn it“
Sykes has previously accused the academy of a “brutal” response to Oscar’s slap.
“I know [Will] Apologies to Chris, but I believe…we are the hosts.This is our house and we invite you to come in and we’ll look after you all tonight and make sure you have a good time,” Sykes said. “And no one apologized to us. We worked really hard to put that show together. I thought, for the industry itself, ‘What the hell is this? ‘”
Back in July 2022, Sykes called hosting the Oscars an “amazing honour,” but she also has no interest in revisiting.
“I think it’s something you want to do, you do it once,” Sykes said at the time (via Entertainment Weekly). “And I don’t know if I’d want to do it again.”
