2003 Maurepas High School Representative Nathan Stowe | Entertainment / Lifestyle

[ad_1]

Nathan Stowe was the 2003 valedictorian of Maurepas High School, a public school in southern Livingston Parish. He owns his own personal training business: Stowe Training Systems. He is married to Laura Dally Stowe and they have a daughter, Ella.

When you were in high school, were you after a valedictorian?

Yes! For as long as I can remember, my parents have encouraged me to do well in school and I want to make them proud.

If so, what study habits do you use to get the best grades?

Luckily; most things are easy for me. I simply read the chapters and did the assigned homework each week; it struck me that 99% of success in almost everything in life can be found by simply showing up. When things weren’t easy for me, my mom hired a tutor for me, and I saw the tutor once or twice a week and did all the required homework she required.

What an achievement do you think it is to be a valedictorian?

In that moment, it was my biggest dream come true and proved to me that I could do almost anything if I showed up consistently and did the work asked.

Have you earned one or more college degrees?

Business degree with a major in Finance. I’m six hours short of my PE minor…but I don’t think I’ll ever use it!

If yes, please describe. Did you get the degree you originally planned to study, or did you change majors and/or universities?

I’ve wanted to work in finance since I was 12 and achieved my goal of being admitted to my university’s student-managed fund: a class of 16, hand-picked by professors, and a whole class of just seven universities in the United States. This course is 99% of the reason I chose to attend Trinity. The other 1% is weather.

What was your first job and how has your career progressed to where it is today?

My first job was in new car sales at Toyota. I was fortunate enough to graduate in 2007 amidst one of the worst economic situations our country has ever seen. 18 months later (and I actually won a few awards for my salesmanship), I became a personal trainer. After five years as a personal trainer and rising to management, I left that company to start my own personal training business: Stowe Training Systems.

I’ve been in business now for nine years, and while COVID has really targeted my industry, I’m having the best year ever in 2022. I am now married to the man of my dreams, have my dream house and leave work every day at noon in order to have enough time to raise my baby Ella.

Is your career what you expected or hoped to be 20 years ago?

yes and no. No, because I’m sure I’m going to be a banker. Yes, because even though I was a banker, I always knew that one day I would own my own company.

What are your future career goals?

My career is simply ideal. I work with people I love, play roles I design, and work on a relaxed schedule of my choice while earning an income that provides security for the future while allowing us to live the lives we want today.

My biggest goal is not to screw it up!
