Emirates News Agency – Sarah Al Amiri chairs board meeting of UAE Academy of Higher Education

ABU DHABI, 29th May, 2023 (WAM) — Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technologies and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Academy of Higher Education, ECAE, chaired the second meeting of the Academy’s Board of Directors at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The session focused on reviewing the Academy’s strategic direction and the progress made to date in developing educational capacity in Abu Dhabi, and discussed the innovative programs offered by the Academy.

During the meeting, the board discussed ECAE’s 2023-2026 strategy, which aims to prepare tomorrow’s educators through a focus on educational excellence, lifelong learning, and impactful research and innovation.

Members also discussed the competency framework for future educators and its alignment with professional development pathways, the ECAE scheme, and the UAE Educational Leadership and Teachers Standards.

They also discussed the introduction of new signature programs that focus on future skills for educators, embedded placements, experiential learning and the adoption of a holistic assessment framework grounded in Emirati culture and values.

In line with its commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, the board discussed implementing credit-bearing micro-credentials for educators. These certificates provide targeted development opportunities to advance educators’ expertise and enrich their teaching practice. In addition, the board highlighted the upcoming development of professional development programs in Arabic and pedagogy.

In addition, they explored the latest developments in the Faculty’s research, communications and partnerships in education.

The meeting was attended by distinguished members of the ECAE Board of Directors namely, Bushra Al Mulla, Director, Family Care Authority; Amal Al Jabri, Director, Human Resources Authority, Abu Dhabi Emirate; Sana Mohammed Suhail, Director, Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority; Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge Khulood Al Dhaheri, Executive Director, Educational Partnerships; Prof Tan Oon Seng, Director, NIE Singapore Child Development Research Centre; and Dr. May Al Taee, Dean of the Emirates Academy of Higher Education.
