Family entertainment venue GolfSuites to open new location in Opelika

The golf driving range will be built at the Landings Development near Tiger Town, on the southwest corner of Gateway Drive, Highway 280 and Interstate 85. Dates for the groundbreaking ceremony, ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening day have yet to be set. Those dates will be announced as projects begin and complete, according to a release from commercial real estate firm Broad Metro.

“We certainly welcome GolfSuites into our community,” said Opelika Mayor Gary Fuller. “I think they made a very smart decision. Thanks to the Robert Trent Jones Grand National Golf Course, Opelika has really become a golf destination for many people.”

The franchise opened its first location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Other venues are in Lubbock and Baton Rouge, Texas, Louisiana.

Broad Metro said they are aiming to open in the second quarter. Fuller thought the location near Exit 58 off Interstate 85 would be perfect and would attract people from the surrounding community.

GolfSuites will be adjacent to the QuikTrip Gas Station, across from the AMC Classic Tiger 13 Theatre, Freddy’s Restaurant, La Quinta Inn, and the Eagle Gas Station with Guthrie’s. A Texas Inn The restaurant is also planned to open next to QuikTrip in 2024.

Now, residents will soon have the opportunity to enjoy different types of golf recreation through GolfSuites. According to the website, the GolfSuites grounds include a 250-plus-yard driving range, mock greens and hazards, professional-quality golf balls and equipment, instructors, restaurant, bar, live music and more.

“I think it’s fun for the whole family and would be great entertainment,” Fuller said. “Then it will be an opportunity for golfers who want to improve their performance to play hard.”

Broad Metro developer William Kadish said he was excited to bring the new business to the area.

“Our company has always been focused on improving the communities in which we do business,” Kadish said in the release. “This GolfSuites project will be a premier entertainment venue for the whole family, a meeting place that strengthens the community.”

Ryan Koenig, co-founder, board member and chief development officer of GolfSuites, will work closely with the City of Opelika and its design team to get everything in place ahead of the construction process. Scott McCurry, GolfSuites chief operating officer, will continue to prepare management for the grand opening, according to a press release.

“We are ecstatic about the opportunity to grow our company as we become part of this growing community,” McCurry said. “I am excited to bring my decades of experience in the golf and entertainment industry to this development and our operations.”

One of the things that drew GolfSuites to the Opelika area was the city’s previous designation by Golf Digest as “America’s Best Golf City.”
