Her Excellency Mariam Bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, affirmed the role of the national sustainability movement in supporting the UAE’s commitment to inspiring local and community efforts.
The event was launched by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme National Council, which oversaw the preparations for (“COP28”). It reinforces the UAE’s efforts to engage relevant stakeholders and citizens in achieving its environmental and climate action goals.
His Excellency said, “The National Sustainability Movement will play an important role in raising awareness among society and different partners of the UAE’s efforts on local climate action, and help promote positive behavior and the best practices for the country’s environment and climate. best sustainable practice. Given our mandate to lead national efforts in preparation for hosting COP28, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment will coordinate and collaborate with various partners, including federal and local government entities, over the upcoming time frame. She added: “The UAE is keen to showcase its many local efforts to the world at the upcoming COP28. Our efforts will demonstrate the UAE’s determination to create a global model that can contribute to addressing climate threats and protecting the planet, through enhanced Sustainability across vital sectors and through integrated systems that engage community members to create a more sustainable future for future generations.”
