Four senior junior polo players represent the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club at the two-day International Polo Challenge in Islamabad, Pakistan, where they will fly the UAE flag.
The squad includes 11-year-old Emirati player Hassan Al Abbar, 10-year-old New Zealand national Charlie Matthews, 15-year-old German Hermes Werle and 13-year-old Syrian-born Ayden Al Ahmad Ketmawi.
All four teenagers are products of the Dubai Polo and Riding Club Academy.
They will play two matches against the youth polo team from Islamabad Polo Club.
Lisa Matthews, General Manager of Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club, said: “We are incredibly proud and grateful for the passion these young players have for the game and their commitment to representing their country on the global stage.
“The Polo Academy at the Dubai Polo and Riding Club works tirelessly to make Dubai a renowned training ground for beginners and advanced enthusiasts alike.
“The exhibition in Pakistan is a true testament to the momentum polo as a sport is gaining momentum on the international stage and we will continue to strengthen its vision,” she added.
Jan Azam, Polo Manager at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, added: “Our junior polo players are in good form and confident to represent the UAE and the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.
“The four of them have mastered the art of polo for over two years through weekly lessons and are truly the future of the sport in this country.”
Matthews added: “This year’s polo season has featured a number of junior tournaments that have brought these young players into the sport among polo clubs in the UAE.
“We are delighted to have four polo players participating in the International Polo Challenge in Islamabad, an event that showcases many local and world equestrian talents.”
