The University of Toronto will offer courses on Drake and The Weeknd in 2022

[ad_1]

School has become more interesting. When it comes to higher education, you can choose from many subjects. Whether it is finance, politics, health or music. A university in Toronto is digging into the catalog of two heroes in their hometown. Ryerson University officially opened a course that will examine the music of The Weeknd and Drake.

In the course “RTA 950: Deconstructing Drake and Viking”, students will have the opportunity to learn about the record-breaking careers of artists. The writer, podcast, and hip-hop scholar #DaltonHiggins is mentoring the class. Last week, he officially announced the news through his Instagram account. Dalton, who has a rich teaching background, said: “It is time for our Canadian rap and R&B idols to be recognized and recognized academically or otherwise. For scholars and historians, research has spawned Drake/Weeknd and helped them create conditions. The Toronto music industry that made them a huge success is crucial.”

With the success of Drake’s current album “Certified Lover Boy” It made its debut on the Billboard 200 rankings in the United States, setting a record for the most sales in the first week of 2021, and breaking the record for the most prominent streaming debuts of Apple Music and Spotify in one day. This makes sense. Why Ryerson will stick to the curriculum. Not to mention The Weeknd’s career is also impressive. He holds multiple music chart records and is the first artist to remain in the top three on the Billboard Hot R&B Songs chart with “Can’t Feel My Face”, “Earned It” and “The Hills” at the same time.

When it comes to artists with college courses, Drake and Wiken are not the first. They are very united because Kanye West, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé and others have all opened courses focused on their musical and cultural influences. Ryerson students don’t have to wait too long to register for Drake and The Weeknd courses. Eligible students can register for the course, as the course will be offered in early 2022.
