Dubai International Financial Center publishes amendments to employment laws and regulations – Dubai Blog

[ad_1]

The Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), the leading international financial center in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, announced today that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will promulgate 2021 as the ruler of Dubai. The Labor Law Amendment Act No. 4 of 1991 revised the labor law. The Board of Directors of the DIFC Authority also issued a new “Employment Regulations” that aligns the qualified plan system under the Employment Act with the DFSA’s employee fund purchase plan, so these plans only apply to a single level of supervision.

The amendment to the Labor Law clarified the scope of the limitation of claims, the accumulation of vacations, the probation period of short-term fixed-term contracts, and certain clear clauses used in the law. The amendment law also revised the basic workplace health and safety requirements under the Employment Law to consider work-from-home arrangements.

The amendments to the Employment Law and Regulations reflect the center’s ongoing commitment to maintain a transparent and robust legal and regulatory framework consistent with global best practices.
