Temperatures in the UAE are expected to soar to the 50°C mark this week.

The National Meteorological Center has issued a forecast predicting a significant increase in temperatures across the UAE, accompanied by sandstorms.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai will see temperatures in the mid-40s for most of the week, according to the latest five-day advisory from the Bureau of Meteorology.

Residents of Dubai, however, are expecting a slight respite on Friday with relatively cool temperatures of 37°C.

Despite this temporary reprieve, the overall weather conditions in the UAE are expected to remain scorchingly hot.

With such extreme heat, it is vital that residents and visitors take the necessary precautions.

Staying hydrated, seeking shade and avoiding the outdoors during the hottest part of the day are basic steps in preventing heat-related illness.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced the suspension of working in open spaces and in direct sunlight from 12:30 noon to 3:00 pm daily starting June 15.

The lunch break for outdoor workers will continue for three months until September 15, 2023.

MoHRE said the midday break is in line with Ministerial Resolution No. (44) of 2022 on Occupational Health and Safety and Labor Accommodation, which aims to provide an appropriate working environment, protect workers from occupational hazards and prevent work-related injuries or disease.
