The teenager has now been released from hospital thanks to the professional care of the medical team

An experienced pediatric cardiac surgery team at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi has successfully performed a complex operation on an Emirati teenager with a congenital heart defect.

Dr Benedict Rajkumar, consultant pediatric cardiac surgeon at SKMC, noted that Abdullah was born with congenital heart defects that required surgery, one of whom was born in the United States congenital heart disease.

“The main blood vessel that comes out of the heart, the aorta, was abnormal at birth. He had a blockage there, a blockage. So he was a newborn baby when he first had surgery in the US, but with a patch The piece enlarged the blockage.” Over the past few years, major blood vessels have become blocked, causing serious health problems.

“The patch had formed calcium deposits inside the aorta, blocking it. Over the past few years, the block had gotten worse. He needed to have it removed,” Dr. Rajkumar said.

SKMC’s pediatric cardiac surgery team steps in to perform complex and delicate procedures.

“We had to protect his brain and other organs and perform an operation to remove the blocked part of the aorta and replace it with another tube. Within the next month, he was out of hospital. He should be able to return to playing football normal life, which is his favorite sport.”

Abdullah, who has now been released from hospital, thanked the medical team for their care.
