SHARJAH: Bybit, the third most visited cryptocurrency exchange in the world, has announced a new partnership with the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to further its commitment and advance the adoption of cryptocurrencies in the UAE. The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding in Sharjah.
Bybit’s donation of AED 1,000,000 marks the first collaboration between AUS and a cryptocurrency exchange, establishing a scholarship fund that will support 20 students to accelerate their academic and research careers in AUS fintech and blockchain. Eligible computer science and computer engineering students will receive Bybit scholarships as soon as this fall.
Bybit is also working on wider initiatives, including sponsoring a hackathon for the UAE blockchain community with an additional AED 100,000. The first AUS-Bybit Inter-school Hackathon will be held at the AUS School of Engineering in the 2023-2024 academic year.
The UAE has recognized the “important role of cryptocurrencies in UAE trade,” and the UAE’s thriving cryptocurrency and blockchain industry is a testament to the leadership’s vision. With more than 772 cryptocurrency companies in Dubai alone, the UAE is becoming a hub for innovation in the digital asset industry, and demand for blockchain talent is expected to rise.
