Atlantis Dubai marks second year of sustainability program

Over the past 12 months, the implementation of green investments totaling $500,000 has led to major changes, helping to reduce waste and emissions and promote more responsible operations.

Reducing waste and energy consumption remains a focus of the Atlantis Atlas project. Education and awareness is a major focus of the Atlantis Atlas project, and through three new youth education programs launched over the past 12 months: Shark Expert, Dolphin Expert and Ocean Explorer, young explorers and families can be brought closer Nature. These experiences are designed to develop and foster a passion for the conservation of marine life and an understanding of why each animal’s wellbeing is always a top priority.

Additionally, the certified state-of-the-art Dolphin Cove within Atlantis Aquaventure has introduced three new non-contact programs to its offerings: Dolphin Kayak, Dolphin Paddle and Dolphin Sunrise. These experiences invite guests to get up close and personal with daily enrichment and training sessions with pods of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins, and inspire and educate guests to do more to protect all marine life and our oceans.

Ocean Conservation and Animal Welfare
For every marine animal experience a guest participates in, Atlantis Dubai donates US$1 to an investment fund to support conservation and sustainability projects in the UAE that help protect the ocean and our environment. In 2022-23, Atlantis is providing $120,000 in funding to support nine projects, including coral research at NYU Abu Dhabi, endangered species research at the United Waste to Treasure campaign, IUCN Shark Panel research, Freestyle Divers coral reef restoration project, AZA SAFE Shark and Ray project, SFS Trace technology, Global Diving Research SL’s dolphin research, and Zayed University and UAE Dolphin Project initiatives to Learn more about local dolphin and cetacean populations.

For 2023-24, Atlantis Dubai announced a 17.5% increase in the fund to $140,000; since launching in 2021, the $1 Donation Program has raised over $250,000 to date. This year’s program partners will be announced later this summer.

Corporate Social Responsibility
In addition to sustainable measures, Atlantis Project Atlas’ corporate social responsibility initiatives have continued to thrive over the past 12 months, including donating 4,102kg of food and 21,941kg of bed linen to the Umm Al Quwain Stray Dog Center/ towels, and 8,450 meals to the Tarahum Charitable Foundation, a humanitarian aid organization in the area.

Atlantis Aquaventure also became the first water park in the Middle East to be awarded the IBCCES Certified Autism Centerâ„¢ designation. To help guests with autism and sensory sensitivities and their families plan visits and visits to the water park, Atlantis Aquaventure has redesigned all in-park signage to include IBCCES sensory ratings for 24 attractions. The goal of the Atlantis Atlas Project is to engage guests in conservation efforts, helping them learn more about the natural world through awareness and education. To celebrate its second anniversary, The Lost Chambers Aquarium is offering free admission for one child (ages 3 to 7) per paying adult on Thursday, June 8 and Saturday, June 10. There will also be an expanded program of educational experiences, including an ocean story scavenger hunt, a meet-a-diver moment and an in-water kindergarten activity to learn more about baby sharks and rays.

Additionally, on World Oceans Day, for every marine animal experience a guest participates in, Atlantis Dubai will double their $1 donation that day to support future partnerships that drive conservation and sustainability. – trade arab news agency
