TEXARKANA – Main Street Texarkana’s monthly arts and entertainment exhibit is coming up this Friday.
Downtown Live brings artists from around Ark-La-Tex to Broad Street, offering live art, music and food for all ages.
“Artists will line the historic street, creating unique works of art while you watch,” reads a Main Street Texarkana release. “Meet artists; enjoy live music and art; shop; then stop for a nice meal at one of the many local restaurants downtown.”
The event is family friendly and free and open to the public.
“Main Street is honored to partner with our spectacular local galleries and artists to bring a variety of live entertainment to downtown Texarkana,” said James Bright, former President of Main Street Texarkana. “We love Downtown Live and what it means to the community. It’s great to see people from all over Ark-La-Tex come to our entertainment district for a unique blend of arts and performance.”
Downtown Live takes place on the second Friday of every month and features local artists creating a variety of works while the public sees them. Area musicians play along the streets, and a dozen restaurants open in the area.
This Friday, Crystal Moon Metaphysical Boutique will offer live canvas paintings and 1894 Gallery will offer live music. Musicians Piso Mojado and Nicci McCarty are two of the many musicians who will perform. In addition to live art and music, the Broad Street retail store will remain open late for the public.
“We have a lot of great shops, restaurants and boutiques on Broad Street,” said Ina McDowell, Main Street executive director. “Texarkana is very fortunate to have such a vibrant and growing downtown. Downtown Live is a great opportunity to celebrate Texarkana’s history and culture.”
Downtown Live is a free monthly event on Broad Street, one of the oldest streets in historic downtown Texarkana. There is ample parking nearby, and dozens of restaurants, shops, and boutiques housed in some of Texarkana’s most historic buildings.Visitors can join the fun from 6pm
