Abu Dhabi [UAE]11 June (ANI/WAM): The second edition of the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo will take place on 18 November 2023, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council has announced.

The race will include a 154-kilometre route starting in Abu Dhabi and ending in Al Ain for amateur cyclists with a prize of Dh2 million, split equally between men and women. The competition reflects Emirates’ efforts to promote cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transport.

The international matches will be broadcast live on Abu Dhabi Sports Channels to millions of fans and viewers around the world. Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the importance of staging the second edition of the global community event, especially after the success of the first edition in 2022.

Al Awani said: “Cyclists in the UAE, especially those in Abu Dhabi, can look forward to the second edition of the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo. The 154km race will take riders from Abu Dhabi through some of the most breathtaking Breathtaking scenery before reaching Al Ain. The Abu Dhabi Cycling Platform offers many events throughout the year and the Abu Dhabi Gryffindor is one of the most important events with a prize money of AED 2 million.”

The first race will take place on November 12, 2022, with more than 800 cyclists from 72 countries participating. (ANI/WAM)
