Emirates News Agency – UAE participates in International Education Ministers Forum in Kazan

KAZAN, 12th June, 2023 (WAM) – Eng. Mohammed Al Qassim, Director General of the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE), said education has always been fundamental to ensuring the long-term sustainable development of the UAE.

He was speaking at the Kazan International Education Ministers’ Forum sponsored by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Al Qassim, who led the UAE delegation to the forum, said that the UAE continues to pursue the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who always viewed education as the foundation for the progress and prosperity of its people.

The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and education ministers from 39 countries.

Al Qassim added that education is at the top of the UAE’s ambitious plans and that the country has invested in developing its education system and aligning it with international best practice.

“We in the UAE have a forward-looking vision for tomorrow under the guidance of His Highness President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We envision and create the future. We live in an age of technology and technological advancement , our aim is to keep up with them and benefit from them. We are open to learning from successful experiences while preserving our national identity and culture. We are committed to passing them on to our children from generation to generation,” he added.

“The strategic partnership between the UAE and the Russian Federation is highly valued, especially in the field of education. This partnership has been realized through various initiatives such as the establishment of the Russian School in Abu Dhabi, which currently has over 120 students enrolled. In addition, an academic exchange program and joint research and scientific projects were launched.Training camps were organized for Emirati students in several Russian cities, where they participated in various competitions, including the 45th in Kazan in 2019 WorldSkills,” he added.
