The NYU Abu Dhabi Center for Stability, Instability and Turbulence Research (SITE) seeks to recruit a Research Scientist to:
- Hydrodynamic Stability Analysis
- Instability and transition thresholds in flows such as Couette flow and wall boundary flow
- Numerical and theoretical stability analysis of boundary layers on plates and bluff bodies (cylinders, wings…)
- High-fidelity simulation of complex flows
SITE is highly interdisciplinary. SITE aims to develop new hydrodynamic stability analysis techniques that can be applied to study the development of singularities, the long-term behavior of complex systems, the formation of spatial patterns, the transition between stability and instability, and the first hydrodynamic Step into the turbulent transitions that occur across multiple disciplines such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation.
As a research scientist on a team, you will conduct research within a specific field. You will collaborate with internal and external researchers. Furthermore, you will mentor and assist young researchers and students in their research activities.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. Applied Mathematics, Physics/Mechanical Engineering with expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Stability Analysis. Postdoctoral fellowship requires at least 5 years of research experience in the field. PhD holders with a strong publication record, background in computational fluid dynamics, laminar to turbulent transition and eddy dynamics are encouraged to apply. Experience in high performance computing is required.
