Chad’s military ruler Mohammed Deby appoints transitional parliament Chad news

[ad_1]

The statement said that the so-called National Transitional Council will “serve as the National Assembly for the transitional period” before the election.

The head of the military government of Chad, Mohamed Idris Deby, appointed 93 members of the new interim parliament five months after the death of his father, Idris Deby, the long-term president.

“The following personnel have been designated as members of the National Transitional Council (NTC),” the four-star general signed the decree.

When the military leader declared himself the chairman of the Chad Transitional Military Council on April 20, he disbanded the parliament and promised “free and transparent” elections within 18 months.

His father came to power as a rebel leader in 1990, and his father’s former opposition members were among them. However, the opposition platform Wakit Tamma or civil society organizations condemning the young Deby coup are not represented.

According to files distributed to the media, the NTC “will act as the National Assembly for the transitional period” before the election.

On May 11, the military government composed of Mahamat Deby and 14 other generals appointed former prime minister Albert Pahimi Padacke as interim prime minister.

Pahimi Padak won the runner-up in the country’s April 11 presidential election, and Deby won the election and he will receive his sixth term.

More than a week later, the Chadian Armed Forces announced that Deby was leading soldiers on the front line to fight against the Libyan Chadian rebels advancing from the north to the capital N’Djamena. They were injured and shocked the whole country. He is 68 years old.
