Two state-of-the-art centers driven by artificial intelligence were built for this large-scale event.
Dubai’s Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) expects millions of people to visit the world’s greatest exhibition, ensuring that traffic from all directions is unimpeded, and public transportation is easily accessible to everyone.
“We have developed a plan to manage the traffic flow on the surrounding roads and intersections on weekdays and weekends and during the days witnessing major events throughout the Expo,” Director-General and Chairman Matar Mohamed Al Thayer ( Matar Mohammed Al Tayer) RTA’s executive board said on Saturday.

Alternative plans have also been developed for all possible situations that may cause traffic congestion.
With road closures around the area, preparations are made for immediate diversion. A communication and response plan for emergency situations has also been developed.
Al Tayer said that in order to implement its mobility and traffic management plan, RTA built a corporate command and control center and an intelligent transportation center in Al Barsha, both of which are the latest in the world.
Enterprise Command and Control Center
With the support of intelligent technology, the Enterprise Command and Control Center (EC3) is one of the largest and most advanced control centers.
It integrates RTA’s public transportation system, subways, trams, buses, taxis and water transportation, and connects multiple traffic control centers. In addition to dealing with different traffic challenges, it can also plan trips effectively.
“EC3 plays a key role in monitoring the emirate’s multimodal transport system and managing road, transportation and traffic-related accidents, crises and incidents. It aims to perform advanced analysis of traffic network data and monitor more than 170 throughout the emirate Incident,” Al Tayer said.
The center uses artificial intelligence to process big data-75 million mobile data inputs per day.
Intelligent Transportation Center
In terms of the technology used, the Dubai Intelligent Transportation Center in Al Barsha is one of the most advanced control centers in the world.
“It establishes a platform for integrated digital technologies using artificial intelligence, big data and the Internet of Things,” Al Tayer said.
RTA has developed and expanded the intelligent transportation system by developing the integrated infrastructure of the transportation system on Dubai’s road network.
60% of the road network in the emirate is now covered by intelligent transportation systems-a huge leap from the previous 11%.
In addition to advanced communication systems, the center has also developed an intelligent traffic control system called iTraffic, which can predict traffic conditions, support decision-making and ensure efficient management of traffic and accidents.
