Beijing: The UAE opened its pavilion at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Investment and Trade Expo in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong province.
Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to China, and Zhang Xinzhu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Demonstration Zone jointly unveiled the UAE Pavilion.
Zhang congratulated the opening of the UAE National Pavilion, saying that the Shanghai Cooperation Demonstration Zone is based on economic and trade cooperation and strives to build a platform and demonstration model in this field, which has been unanimously recognized by both sides.
In the next step, the SCO Demonstration Zone will strengthen ties with UAE companies and help them expand into the Chinese market. According to the Global Times, Hammadi said that as the UAE joins the SCO family, the UAE will work with China and other member states to achieve peace and prosperity, promote regional development, and contribute to world peace and development.
The growing commercial ties between China and the UAE are bearing fruit, with trade between the two countries reaching US$100 billion and expected to reach US$200 billion by 2030. There are 13 exhibitors in the UAE who are committed to exploring cooperation opportunities, building development capabilities, seeking Chinese ambassadors, and establishing strong partnerships with international partners.
According to reports, the United Arab Emirates officially obtained the status of dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in May. As a new member of the SCO family, the UAE Embassy in China actively participated in the 2023 SCO International Investment and Trade Fair and became the largest exhibitor of the national pavilion.
The UAE National Pavilion joined hands with 13 companies in the fields of finance, investment, high-tech, new materials, and tourism to showcase the UAE’s exploration and practice in the fields of aerospace, environmental protection, artificial intelligence, and smart city construction.
