According to media reports, a fire broke out in a 35-story high-rise building in Dubai near the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, early Monday morning. Video posted on social media showed flames engulfing several floors of the building, which reportedly belongs to construction giant Emaar, a Dubai government-backed developer. The Associated Press news agency said it was unclear if anyone was injured in the fire.
Local media reports also said there were no reports of casualties.
The Associated Press reported that when reporters arrived at the scene, the fire had been extinguished. The building, which is part of a series of towers that Emaar calls 8 Boulevard Walk, now bears black charring markings on its facade, according to reports.
The al Khaleej Times reported that while Dubai Police and Dubai Civil Defense have yet to comment on the fire, video shows them and first responders at the scene.
Some witnesses wrote on social media that the fire alarm did not go off.

Neither Emaar nor the city-state’s Dubai media office issued any statements.
Witnesses were quoted by local media as saying the fire started in the lower apartment and then spread upwards, and was quickly extinguished by emergency services. Traffic jams were reported in the morning as streets near the area were closed.
Dubai, the city of skyscrapers, has experienced many high-rise fires in recent years.
