A project to convert greenhouse gases into energy in Abu Dhabi

An agreement has been signed to develop a project to convert greenhouse gases into energy in Abu Dhabi.The agreement was signed on Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer) and KEO International Consultant.

TADWEER is the agency responsible for controlling and coordinating waste management activities across the emirate.The agency is also responsible for controlling and coordinating Policies, strategies and contract regimes. On the other hand, KEO is a creative business made up of planning, design, engineering and project management professionals.

KEO will provide a feasibility study and cover the financial, environmental and technical aspects of the facility development and operation. The project agreement to convert greenhouse gases into energy in Abu Dhabi will also include gas extraction testing as well as drilling operations. In addition, the agreement will include volumes expected to be generated within 10 years.

Expectations for Abu Dhabi’s Greenhouse Gas-to-Energy Project

after finishing, project Greenhouse gases will be extracted from the Al Dhafra landfill and converted into green energy. Currently, landfills are making significant efforts in environmental protection. By 2021, a total of 12 542 tonnes of waste has been extracted from the filling. These wastes include cardboard, plastic waste, iron, aluminium, paper and wood. The purpose of extraction is to reuse and recycle waste.

Director of Projects and Facilities Tadeville talked about this project. Abdul Mohsen Mubarak Al Kathiri said the signing of the contract is part of the company’s efforts to convert waste into energy. Furthermore, he said the project aims to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s development goals, especially Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

The Director confirmed that, through the Consultant Agreement, they all look forward to implementing the project in accordance with best practices and standards.
